Sophia lyons fahs

Our belief in the inherent worth of each individual determines our method of education for children, youth and adults.

Sophia Lyon Fahs is a pioneer of religious education remembered worldwide for her contributions to Unitarian Universalism. She grew up right here in Wooster OH and graduated from the College of Wooster in 1897. She was an educator and friend of John Dewey. In the 1940s, she developed the Beacon Series, recognizing the spirituality and wisdom already within each child and adult. Following that principle, we seek to enrich our own understanding of ourselves, our Unitarian Universalist tradition, and the world around us. Sessions for all ages focus on social justice, ethics, world religions, and our Unitarian Universalist identity.
