“Generosity as Risk: Joseph the Dreamer” (Genesis 37:1-24) – Rev. Erin Guzman, Guest Minister

Sometimes our desires for generosity and mutuality don’t play out in the ways we expect. Joseph, the youngest of 12 brothers and his father’s favorite son, has a unique gift for visions and prophecy. But when he attempts to invite his brothers into sharing this gift, they react harshly and reject him. We don’t always realize that there are risks in being generous. How might Joseph’s story encourage us to consider the balance between inclusive sharing, desires for relationship, and holding important boundaries?
