Dear UUFWC members and friends,

The Search Team is very excited to introduce Rev. Walter Clark as the candidate for our next settled minister! After winnowing 16 applicants to 3 excellent pre-candidates, we concluded that Rev. Walter is the best fit for our congregation. Guided by your input, via the congregational survey, cottage meetings, and focus groups, our next minister must be a dynamic preacher, committed to social justice, and a community builder. Rev. Walter is all these things and more, and we invite you to get to know him better!

Hello UUFWC friends! I am so excited to meet all of you and to continue the great work that your congregation is doing. For the past three years I have been working at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, VA as the Assistant Minister. I have been working mainly in the areas of social justice and pastoral care (two of my favorite things) but have also worked with the worship teams, adult education and youth and young adults. I will be moving up from Richmond, VA where I have lived for the past 24 years and I can’t wait for my wife Wendy and our two teenagers Willow & William to settle into the UUFWC community.”

While I will be in town for Candidating Week, all of the meetings will be virtual. I know COVID-19 has made connections difficult for all of us, but the safety of all of us comes first. I want to assure you that a good Candidating Week can happen virtually. Last year Arlington called a new minister using a 100% virtual platform. While we all missed the in-person meetings, we noticed that the virtual format was much more inclusive and gave more people access to their prospective minister. I will do everything I can (with the help of the excellent Search Team) to meet with everyone who wants to. I can’t wait to get to know each and every one of you!
